four months and a taste of our morning routine {or lack thereof}

This little squish has now been in our lives for four months.
I'm telling you, time never passes more quickly than when you're watching a baby grow.
How did this smiling, cooing, laughing little ball of love live in me just four short months ago?
It seems as though she was just born, and yet it feels like she's been a part of our family forever.

At Lou's four-month check up she weighed in at a whopping 17.31 lbs (98th percentile) but was only in the 60th percentile for height.
I didn't think our chunky baby Minnie could be beat, but Lou is officially heavier and shorter than Min was at this age.
She's our real live Buddha baby.
She continues to look less and less like Minnie and nothing like either me or Robert.
There is a bit of a ginger quality to her and I'll be interested to see if she has a tinge of red in her hair once it really comes in.
For the most part she's still just as pleasant as can be, but she has been throwing us a curve ball or two.
A cold has hurt her sleeping habits a bit and I'm praying she'll give me those eight or nine straight hours of sleep consistently like she used to.
Generally she'll just wake up once for a 15 minute feeding at around 4 am, but my doctor told me that since she is obviously not starving, she should easily sleep through the night if I'm up for a little sleep training.
I am confident she'll get back to it on her own.
She also has taken a terrible liking to sticking her fingers down her throat and making herself throw up.
That, my friends, has been the death of me.
Thankfully she's now kind of holding onto toys so those go in her mouth rather than those long pointy fingers.
For the most part, I just feel like Lou is my little dream babe.
She's happy, sweet and quick to smile.
We are so blessed she came into our lives.

I must admit, however, that I have been a very tired mama these last few weeks.
Well, pretty much since Lou Lou was born.
In so many ways it's just easier to stay home and take it easy than to venture out of the house.
Our mornings are generally very slow.
Robert usually gets Minnie when she wakes up around 8 and puts on a movie for her because I've just fed Lou and both of us have snuggled back into bed for a few more zzzzz's before our day starts.
And yes, you saw correctly, that is an enormous pile of VHS's.
Here at this house, we love ourselves a good VHS.
We scored a million of them at a yard sale for $0.25 each this summer and Min has been in Toy Story heaven ever since.
We had "Babe" on repeat before that (we rarely buy movies) so I was grateful to add a few new titles to our collection.
So, Min usually watches "Woody and Buzz" for a bit in the morning and then I roll out of bed after Bob leaves and join her while I nurse Lou.
Later we eat breakfast, play with toys, read books and dance in the kitchen in our pajamas.
Eventually we get ourselves in gear and hop in the bath.
There's no sight I love more than my two little nakey girls in the tub together.
I fill up the tub just about an inch and bathe Lou while Min plays beside her.
When Lou's out I turn on the water and allow the tub to fill a bit more for Min as I dress Lou Lou.
Min would play all the live long day in the tub if I let her.
Once I'm able to coax her out of there Lou waits patiently {most of the time} in the hall, kicking her feet and squawking her little gargly squawk.
By then it's probably near 11 am and I'm likely not even ready for the day.
I'm going to have to get my act together once we have a real schedule and places to be, but for now I love myself a lazy morning.
Julia doesn't have work until the afternoon so we get to spend some of our time with her, dancing while she plays the guitar and Min loves to snuggle on her bed and rifle through her purse to find gum.
Typically we are out doing something by noon, but it's not the worst thing in the world to me if we spend most of the day at home, especially with this colder weather and shorter days.
Everything just feels cozier when it's cold out and snuggling with my girls while watching a movie can be just what the doctor ordered.
