We did it. Robert and I left Minnie for a weekend getaway to Southern Utah with some friends and by some miracle I didn't have a panic attack and everyone got along splendidly.
I teared up a little when we left her at my cousins but she didn't even bat an eyelash as we walked right on out the door, which made this mama feel better when saying goodbye.
The fact that I totally trusted my cousin and my brother and sister-in-law who were taking turns with her over the weekend made it all the easier. Those dreamboats!
It was nice to have a little one-on-one time with Bob and to get a little R&R.
The boys played golf and watched a ridiculous amount of sports while the ladies shopped, went to a movie and got massages. Oh, the life!
These boys have been friends since junior high and it's a good thing all of us wives like each other so much or else all these getaways we go on would totally bite.
Luckily I like all of them...a lot.
Bob and I snuck away for a few hours to go on a little "date" up Snow Canyon one afternoon.
I'm telling you, if I didn't know better I would have thought we were on Mars.
The geography is something strange. And so cool.
It was quite relaxing even while hiking to the top of a petrified sand dune in sandals and a skirt.
Smart, I know.
Without kids we went wild, staying up late, playing truth or dare (believe it!), some serious games of cards and eating ourselves silly (we usually do this with or without kids).
I kept finding myself eyeing the room, making sure Minnie was ok and then suddenly remembering she wasn't there.
It was nice not to have to play the mom role 24/7 for a few days, but I can't tell you how happy my reunion with that little munchkin was.
How could I not melt when I opened the door and the chubster started to flail her arms, scream and with wide-eyes run right for me with a big grin?
I melted into a big puddle on the floor immediately.
I LOVED this weekend, but I am sure glad to be Mom again.
