a cabin going weekend

We headed up to the Collard cabin Friday evening for a little fun in a technology-less world with some friends. In spite of the addition of two toddlers to our annual cabin excursion, it turned out to be a very pleasant and relaxing weekend.

It felt as though most of our time was spent either eating, napping or chasing wee ones, and I wouldn't have had it any other way. We also got in a few rousing games of badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, pounce, and a game the boys made up which they titled "Tubular." Not a single trip goes by that they don't make up some kind of weird game.

At one point Robert decided that the makeshift volleyball court needed some smoothing, which it did, but what he really wanted to do was get on the old tractor. Look at him! Doesn't he look so natural on that thing? So rugged and handsome!

In spite of his best efforts, the court remained quite lumpy, but he didn't regret that tractor ride for one minute.

Min Min, getting her groove on.

This hug from Liam was totally unsolicited and we all about melted when it happened. These two spent a lot of the weekend taking stuff from each other, but made up for it during the moments that they hugged or held hands.

Below is a tree we found above the cabin while on a walk that has all of the Collard fam's names carved into it. Bob had never seen it before and was shocked to find it.

It was a marvelous weekend and we feel so lucky to have such great friends to spend grand weekends like this with. It was fun to watch Minnie and Liam discover so many new things together. I hope they will be fast friends as they get older.

  1. What a fun place to go. Favorite parts of this post include Robert on the tractor, Minnie getting her groove on, and the Collard tree.
