an easter weekend

This weekend was spent celebrating new babies, overcoming sugar comas, lots of Easter egg hunting and enjoying warm weather. It could not have been better.

I have three best friends from college who I believe I will be close with until we're old and gray.
Abi, Sara and Shelly are those tried and true friends you dream about. Life changes but we always remain close, even in spite of distance or time apart.
The minute we're together again it's as if we're transported back to our sophomore year in college, living in a dumpy old apartment, staying up until all hours of the night doing who knows what eating corn dogs and speaking in accents.
Well, not really, but you get what I mean. It's just like nothing has changed.

Sara is due with her first little babe in May, so we celebrated at my house with a little shower with some of her good friends.
I ate myself silly, naturally, and after everyone left the four of us spent a good hour basking in the sun on the driveway talking and laughing.
Sara is going to be such a wonderful mom to that little boy.
I can't wait to meet him.

Sunday was so so lovely too.
The choir at church sang some of the most beautiful songs and my heart was so full of gratitude for the Savior.
When we left, the sun was shining and it felt like the world was just happy it was spring.
We had ourselves a post-nap Easter egg hunt in the yard (hence the beautiful forehead pack n' play netting design Min's got going on).
I'm pretty sure she cracked every egg tossing it into the basket as she found them, but she had herself the best time.
I'm telling you, holidays are one million times more fun with kids. They just are.

We spent the rest of Sunday celebrating my father-in-law's birthday with the Collard clan and then went to Nick and Megan's for more candy eating and another Easter egg hunt for Min.
I think she ate her weight in jelly beans this weekend.
Hopefully we can keep the rest of the candy out of sight this week so she can recover.

Happy Monday!

  1. I love this post. :) The pictures are so adorable. Sounds like you guys had a fun Easter! And kids can eat a ton of candy... Maybe we'll learn from our consequences someday! haha.
