a very happy independence day

Isn't it weird to celebrate the 4th of July in the middle of the week? I kept thinking it was Saturday and was planning Sunday's meal in my head over and over again. In spite of my confusion, we had ourselves a mighty fine fourth, commencing with a ward breakfast bright and early, a hilarious presentation of the colors by four little boy scouts and playground wood chips stuck in our sandals. In the evening we headed over to Fuddruckers for a burger. We then met up with lots of families from our ward on the front lawn of the Hershey Medical Center where the Hershey Symphony performed quite the patriotic performance while we enjoyed the complimentary ice cream. We were all sticky and sweaty in the heat and humidity, but we had a grand time and Minnie couldn't get enough of all the little kids. Following the concert we made our way through the crowds to a friends' backyard to watch the fireworks over Hershey Park. It was a perfect way to top of a lovely Independence Day.

My cute friend Shana and her family.

These girls love Robert. He is the greatest "big kid" there ever was.
Babies taking care of babies. Minnie was actually trying to steal all of her little boyfriends' treats.
 Minnie loving herself some fireworks.
Fireworks over the roller coasters. We're headed to Hershey Park this weekend for the first time with Elyse. She's coming into town on the train tonight! We are all very excited.
Happy Independence Day to one and all!

  1. Ah! I want to fly out this weekend and go with you! I've always wanted to go to Hershey park. Have loads of fun! P.s. we missed you guys this year! We had a BBQ at our house and it just wasn't the same with minus one from our group!
